Newsletter 5/28/19

MPLT Finance Committee & Steering Committee Meetings:

• Finance Committee meeting TONIGHT at 6:30pm, in the LN Orchestra Room
• Steering Committee meeting immediately following the Finance meeting, starting at 7:30pm
• Parents are encouraged to join us for both meetings as we focus on finalizing the 2019 budget, planning for 2-9 rehearsals, and developing committees for areas such as crew, meal plan, and band camp

Rookie Night:

• Rookie Night is THIS Wednesday, May 29th from 4:30pm – 8:30pm at Lawrence North
• ALL students (rookies and leadership) should check in at the registration desk when they arrive
• Volunteers are needed to help with this event!

Payment Plan Reminder:

• All students participating in the 2019 MPLT season should submit their $200 deposit by tomorrow, May 29th
• If you need to set up an alternative payment plan, please contact your home school’s PA office
  • LC students should contact Melody Pancheri at melodypancheri
  • LN students should contact Jen Jansen at jenniferjansen

Tag Day:

• Parent volunteers are needed to help chaperone Tag Day. If you are able to help, please contact Melody Pancheri at melodypancheri

Online Registration:

• We ask that all students participating in the 2019 MPLT season complete their online registration as soon as possible to help staff and volunteers prepare for summer rehearsals

2-9 Rehearsal Schedule:

• All rehearsal dates listed below will be held at LN from 2:00pm – 9:00pm, unless otherwise indicated:
  • Wednesday, June 19th (Parent Check-In 6:00pm – 8:00pm)
  • Thursday, June 20th
  • Monday, June 24th
  • Tuesday, June 25th
  • Wednesday, June 26th
  • Thursday, June 27th
  • Friday, June 28th – Rehearsal 10am – 5pm, DCI Field Trip 6pm – 11pm
  • Monday, July 1st
  • Tuesday, July 2nd
  • Wednesday, July 3rd

LN Rummage Sale:

• The LN Rummage Sale (our largest general fundraiser of the year) will be held on Saturday, June 22nd in the LN Fieldhouse, from 8a – 4p
• We currently have a large number of open shifts, and would greatly appreciate any help our MPLT parents could provide!
  • To view openings, or to sign up for a shift, click here

4th of July Parade:

• MPLT will again be participating in the City of Lawrence 4th of July Parade
• Students should report to the LC Band Room at 9:00am on Thursday, July 4th
  • We will walk across the street to warmup and begin the parade route
• Parents, come cheer us on! The Parade begins at 10am and ends at Lawrence Park at 11:15am

Rookie Night:

• Rookie Night is next Wednesday, May 29th from 4:30pm – 8:30pm at Lawrence North
• Volunteers are needed to help with this event! Contact Dawn Stout (dcoon11) or Kaye Schoenling (kschoenl) if you are able to help.
• Forms are due, with payment, this Friday, May 24th
  • Forms are available in the PA office at both schools, and a copy is attached to this newsletter

Performer Contracts:

• 2019 Performer Contracts are due TODAY, May 20th.
• Contracts are available in both PA offices, and a copy is attached to this newsletter

Online Registration:

• We ask that all students participating in the 2019 MPLT season complete their online registration as soon as possible to help staff and volunteers prepare for summer rehearsals

Disney Trip:

• There will be an informational session tomorrow, May 21st at 7:30pm in the LC Auditorium
• A representative from Music Travel Consultants will present details about the trip and be available to answer any questions

Fridays at the Fort:

• Join your fellow MPLT families for Lawrence Township Night this Friday, May 24th , starting at 6pm at Civic Plaza, in Fort Harrison
• This outdoor concert will feature the MPLT drumline, as well as performances by bands from Belzer, LC, & LN
• ALL drumline members are required to attend, and should meet at Civic Plaza at 5pm to unload for a short dress rehearsal. Wear your Chops shirt!
  • The drumline will perform at 7:30pm, and will be released after all equipment has been loaded back into the trailer.

Just a quick reminder to join us for the MPLT Show Reveal tonight from 6:30pm – 8:30pm in the LC Auditorium! (Enter through Door 11)

Rookie families are invited to check-in at 6:30p with an ice breaker for new marchers in The Commons with MPLT leadership from 6:45p-7:15p. During this time, parents are encouraged to complete online MPLT registration in the Senior Café. We will also offer a rookie family tour at 6:45p.

Current senior parent volunteers are encouraged to attend as we would like to honor you for your hard work and dedication.

Following the show, please stop by any of our tables for more information regarding volunteering, fundraising, guard, crew, uniforms, and chaperoning. You will also have the opportunity to purchase MPLT spirit wear.

Good Morning LTWP:

This weekend we will be celebrating the wonderful LTWP season from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at LN. We will plan on having a picnic on the lawn across from door 16. If it decides to rain, we will move inside. Please bring bankets, chairs, or anything comfortable to sit on. A main course and drinks will be provided, but familes attending are asked to bring a side dish.

We ask the familes sign up for a side dish to share using the sign up link below, there are many spots still available.

​End of Season Celebration:

• We will celebrate the 2019 LTWP season on Saturday, May 11th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at LN
• Weather-permitting, we plan to have a picnic on the lawn across from door 16 (otherwise we will be in the LN Commons, outside of the cafeteria).
  • Please bring chairs/blankets/anything that will be comfortable to sit on
• LTWP will provide fried chicken and beverages (water, tea, lemonade).
• We ask that LTWP families to sign up and bring a side dish to share – Many spots are still available, please sign up to bring a side dish

Newsletter 4/26/19

Athletic Physical Nights:

• All MPLT students are required to have physicals performed by a physician prior to the start of band camp
• Both LC and LN offer Athletic Physical Nights, where students participating in fall activities can obtain an IHSAA-approved physical for $20.00 (MPLT students can attend Physical Nights at either high school)
  • LN will host a Physical Night on Thursday, May 2nd, from 6pm – 8pm (Note: This is the same night as Color Guard tryouts; Guard members should consult with Julie before attending Physical Night)
  • LC will host a Physical Night on Tuesday, May 7th, from 6pm – 8pm (Note: This is the same night as the Percussion Concert at LN, percussionists will not be able to get a physical on this date)

Show Reveal:

• The 2019 MPLT Show Reveal will be held in the LC Auditorium on Monday, May 13th, from 6:30pm – 9:00pm
• This is a fun and informational night for performers and their families, please plan to attend!

Rookie Camp:

• MPLT Rookie Camp will be held at Lawrence North on Wednesday, May 29th, from 4:30pm – 8:30pm
• Students participating in Rookie Night should turn in their registration form, with payment, to their band director no later than Friday, May 24th
  • Registration forms are available in the LC and LN Performing Arts offices, and a copy is attached to this week’s listserv

Color Guard Auditions:

• Guard auditions will be held at the LC Fieldhouse on the following dates:
  • Monday, April 29th – Registration begins at 5:45pm, followed by auditions from 6:30pm – 8:30pm
  • Wednesday, May 1st – 6:30pm – 8:30pm
  • Thursday, May 2nd – 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Percussion Spring Training:

• Percussion tryouts will be held at LN on the following dates:
  • Tuesday, April 30th, from 6:30pm – 8:30pm (Incoming freshman and new instrument tryouts)
  • Thursday, May 9th , from 6:30pm – 8:30pm (All MPLT percussionists)

Leadership Camp:

• MPLT 2019 Leadership Positions will be announced Friday, May 10th.
• All 2019 MPLT leadership is required to attend our 2019 show reveal, Monday, May 13th at LCHS @6:30pm.
• Additionally, 2019 Leadership camp will be Saturday, May 18th from 9:00am-3:00pm.
  • This a mandatory training session for our leadership team that will take place at both campuses, beginning at Lawrence North and ending at Lawrence Central.
  • If students need assistance with transportation please contact a director and we will make sure that they are taken care of!
