MPLT rehearsals will be at LN this week; the LC to LN shuttle will puck up at door 11 at 4pm.

LC Students will pick up suppers and eat before taking the shuttle or driving to LN.

Color guard will remain at LC until Thursday. They will join the band at LN for Thursday evening rehearsal.

  • Dinner only will be provided by Meal Plan.
  • We will have the opportunity to rehearse in the stadium and the students will perform as travelling pep bands the parking lot and play for the tailgaters before the game.

MPLT – Lawrence at Lucas
Friday – September 2nd, 2016

On Friday, September 2nd 2016, MPLT will travel to Lucas Oil Stadium to spend the afternoon in rehearsal, perform as a pep band
and put on their first public performance of this year’s marching show, Across and Back, during half time of the LN vs LC game.

Unfortunately the resource normally used to move the MPLT semi-trailers may be unavailable due to scheduling conflicts leading into the holiday weekend.

MPLT is need of two or more CDL licensed drivers.
Tractors will be rented from Penske to pull the two MPLT 48′ instrument and equipment trailers from Lawrence Central to Lucas Oil and back again.

The schedule would be as follows and may be split by up to four people.

Two Drivers Needed
11:30am – Arrive Penske Truck Rental, 2381 Post Rd 46219
12:00pm (noon) – Arrive Lawrence Central and hookup trailers
12:15pm – Depart LC for Lucas Oil (directions and instructions provided)
12:35pm – Arrive Lucas Oil and meet with MPLT Crew parents. Park tractor/trailer for the day.

1:00pm – MPLT can provide transportation if you need to leave or you may stay for the day.
8:00pm – You may return to Lucas and enjoy a free pass to watch MPLT perform during half time.

Two Drivers Needed
10:15pm – Arrive Lucas Oil via your own transportation (if you did not stay or come back for half time)
10:45pm (approx) – Depart Lucas Oil for Lawrence Central
11:10pm – Park trailers after unload is complete
11:40pm – Return tractors to Penske Truck Rental, 2381 Post Rd 46219

Macy’s Shop for a Cause, August 26-28:

• One of our many Pride to Pasadena fundraisers is the sale of "Macy’s Shop for a Cause" passes. These are available in the LN and LC PA offices. The pass costs $5.00 and it gives the customer 25% off of most items (10% off of larger items) at Macy’s on August 26, 27 & 28.

Dear MPLT Families,

The Northeast Rotary Club (NE Rotary) is offering a fund raising opportunity for MPLT families. NE Rotary needs adult volunteers who are willing to bus tables & keep their assigned area “trash free” at Lucas Oil Stadium. Only a few volunteers would be needed when NE Rotary cannot fill all the work shifts. NE Rotary will apply a $100 credit directly to your child’s MPLT quota account for your efforts (either through LCPAA for an LC student or LNBand for an LN student). You will have to travel to Lucas Oil, pay for your own parking and work bussing tables for at least an 8 hour shift. Once your Performing Arts quota is paid, the remaining credit would be applied to pay Rose Parade expenses directly to “Music Travel”. No refunds of excess fees in student’s accounts will be given.

How to be considered:

• Send an email to treasurer requesting access to a Doodle page with a list of all dates available and provide your contact information and student beneficiary name.
• Volunteers will be selected by the Directors with priority given to students with financial need/larger quota balance. Volunteers will be notified once we are notified by the NE Rotary.
• Selecting a work date from the below table is a commitment by you to work on that day if you are selected. Volunteers may amend date selection at any time up to 10 days priors to the event by updating their information on Doodle. If a volunteer is selected for an event and cannot work or is a no show on the day of the event, regardless of circumstance, no future NE Rotary volunteer opportunities will be offered to said volunteer.
• Once you are selected to volunteer, you will be e-mailed a packet that needs to be completed before you meet the NE Rotary member a predetermined location.
• After the volunteer has successfully completed the shift and the shift attendance has been verified by the NE Rotary, NE Rotary will disburse funds for credit to student accounts within approximately 2 weeks.

Logistics:

• You will be contacted 5 days before the event to verify that you have been chosen to volunteer for a specific date; Once you are assigned, you will be sent paperwork to complete & bring to check-in station
• Report to a check-in station with you completed paperwork 2.5 hours prior to event.
• Parking passes are available, but the parking pass lot is not close to the stadium. Paid parking (up to $20) is available closer to the stadium. Make sure you include time to walk from parking to report on time.
• A meal ticket is provided (sandwich or pizza and a drink from the concession stand).
• This is a physical job with no sitting except for a quick meal break. You will be on your feet the entire time.
• Wear dark pants and a t-shirt and comfortable black closed-toe shoes. You’ll be provided with a polo shirt (to put over your t-shirt) and apron upon arrival.

Rehearsals and Performances:

• Friday, August 19, is our first football game (v’s Noblesville).  This game will take place at LN. We will rehearse at LC as normal then head over to LN to act as a pep band in the stands.
  • We will not be performing the half time show at this game.
  • Students will wear their parade uniform consisting of the blue Pride to Pasadena shirt and khaki shorts (color guard wear black shorts).
  • All pit percussion and color guard will attend the game.

• For the remainder of the season, MPLT students staying after school on Thursdays will be required to take part in study tables from 4:00pm – 5:30pm.  These will be monitored by staff and the expectation will be that students use the time wisely.
  • Students will be excused to eat dinner if it is brought to them.
  • Students will not be allowed to eat in rehearsal rooms.  Food can be consumed outside or in the hallways, and students are expected to clean up after themselves.
  • Beginning at 6:00pm, students will have access to staff for music or visual help, or music testing.
  • Rehearsal will always begin promptly at 6:30pm.

• Please keep our students safe! When picking up your students after rehearsals, please pull into a designated parking spot before leaving your vehicle. Do not park in the traffic lanes or block traffic.

• On Friday, September 9, Section Leaders and members of the leadership council will be performing live in the studio of the WISH-TV News 8 morning show! Transportation to and from WISH-TV studios will be provided. Students will need to bring money for a breakfast stop before school. More information will be coming soon!

• Lawrence Township offers free meals for students who participate in after school activities.

On Sunday, July 24th from 6pm to 8pm, Dr. Angela Henrickson will provide free physicals for members of the Marching Pride.

Registration for band camp is mandatory.  Parents and students must come between 6pm and 8:30pm, you will be dismissed as soon as you complete registration.

Thanks to successful fundraising efforts, Marching Pride families will not have to make the November payment for our trip to Pasadena.  We thank our sponsors and volunteers who are making it possible to send over 200 marchers and staff to proudly represent our schools and Lawrence Township!  Please help us as we continue to endeavor to make this trip possible for all MPLT families.
