COLOR RUN:

Apparel Orders:

  • All MPLT apparel orders will be placed online this year. The second order will be placed tomorrow, August 8th.
    • MPLT Apparel Online Order
    • Any orders placed after tomorrow will be included in the third and final order on September 26th.

Rehearsals and Performances:

  • Our school district has a program that provides a "Supper" to any students who request it for any after school activities. Supper consists of a protein, grain, veggie and fruit option.
    • Contact Sue Felli at suzannefelli or 317-694-7674 to sign your student up for this program. Please list which days your student will need a supper.
    • Students will pick up their supper directly from the cafeteria at their home school. LN students; take your supper to the band hall to await the shuttle – do not eat in the cafeteria! (DO NOT leave trash!)

Shuttle Busses & Pick Up:

  • The after school shuttle bus for LN students will leave from LN door 16 at 4pm for all Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday rehearsals. Parents will always pick up from LC at the end of rehearsal – there is no return shuttle to LN. (If rehearsals are at LN, the shuttle will run from LC to LN, leaving from door 11, and you will pick up from LN.)
    • Please note: The Thursday and Friday shuttle this week will be late! It is the first few days of school and the shuttle has to complete a regular route before returning to take our MPLT students.
  • On Thursdays, students have the option of riding their regular bus home and meeting back at LC at 6:15PM in time for the 6:30PM rehearsal, or taking the shuttle directly to LC and waiting in a supervised room for the rehearsal. Meals are the student’s responsibility.
  • Please keep our students safe! When picking up your students after rehearsals, please pull into a designated parking spot before leaving your vehicle. Do not park in the traffic lanes or block traffic.
  • LN Color Guard members are encouraged to be dropped off at LC for the G1 guard class. There is a shuttle bus to LN after class. Alternately, they can ride the normal shuttle from LN to LC which leaves from LN door 4 at the start of the school day.
  • Information about Activity Busses will come soon.

Band Camp Wrap Up:

  • A Special Thanks to the Band Camp Committee who worked tirelessly to make this all happen!
  • A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who covered so many shifts; feeding, fitting, tending and generally taking care of our 180 marchers. Their efforts totaled an astonishing 900+ volunteer hours over the course of band camp!
  • NOTE: MANY volunteer positions were unfilled during band camp. The Marching Band season requires everyone to step up and help, and there are MANY ways to do that. Please contact a committee chair person to see where you can help

Rehearsals and Performances:

  • Our school district has a program that provides "Supper" to any students who request it for any after school activities. "Supper" consists of a protein, grain, veggie and fruit option. We are willing to organize this for any student who contacts Sue Felli by Tuesday, to order for the following week. Suppers will be available starting next week (August 7). We anticipate that many students will want to have an extra snack before starting marching band practice.

    • This year, students will pick up their supper directly from the cafeteria at their home school, it will not be brought to the band hallway.

Marching Pride of Lawrence Township Message: Band Camp Parent Preview – This Saturday!

WHAT: Parent Preview Night! MPLT will show their parents and fans what they have been working on all week!

WHEN: Saturday, July 29th, from 5pm to 9pm

WHERE: Lawrence Central (by door 11)

WHAT TO BRING:

Bring cash if you wish to purchase desserts and snacks (Dippin’ Dots, Kona Ice or KettleKorn).
Bring lawn chairs: the student performance take place on the practice lot, just beyond the MPLT semi-trailers.

MARCHERS:

Students will need their "What’s in a Name" show shirt & khaki shorts (band) or black shorts (guard) for the performance. Rehearsal ends at 4pm and you will have an opportunity change clothes before dinner.

PRE-ORDERED DINNERS:

Tickets for the pre-ordered a fried chicken dinner from Jug’s catering can be picked up at the table just inside door 11. Dinner will be served in the Commons.
If you have not pre-ordered, you can still turn in an order form: pick one up in the Performing Arts office or print a form here. (also attached) There may be an opportunity to buy additional meals the night of the event.
All students should order a meal or bring dinner from home.

Between 5pm and 7pm, relax and enjoy your meal in the school cafeteria, socialize, grab desserts from Dippin’ Dots, Kona Ice or KettleKorn check out the information and fundraiser tables.

From 7pm to 9pm, the Marching Pride of Lawrence Township will show you what they have accomplished during band camp!

All parents, family, friends, and community members are welcome and encouraged to join us!

Band Camp at LC:

  • Parent Preview: On Saturday, July 29th, from 5-7pm, Jug’s Catering will provide dinner to celebrate Parent Preview Night. Please pre-order your meal, download the order form here.
    • Orders received before July 25th will be $10 per meal, and will rise to $12 per person after the 25th.
    • Please include an order for your marching band student, as dinner is not provided on this day at band camp.
  • ATTENTION ALL MPLT FAMILIES: 2017 Band Camp is in full swing, but WE NEED YOU! There are still MANY positions unfilled for meals, uniforms, and much, much more (there are a lot of donation needs too). Band Camp needs an army of parent volunteers working behind the scenes.

Freshman Orientation and Schedule/ID/Chromebook Pick-up:

  • ALL Lawrence North Freshmen will complete Freshman Orientation on Wednesday, 7/26/17 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Please register for this session.
    • Students will eat lunch at LC, ride a shuttle bus to LN to take care of all business and then return to rehearsal at LC.
  • ALL Lawrence North Upperclassmen will pick up schedules on Thursday, 7/27/17 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
    • A shuttle will be provided; however, students may drive if they wish.
  • All Lawrence Central MPLT Members: Freshmen will be released to attend orientation on Wednesday, 7/26/17 from 4-6pm. Upperclassmen may pick up schedules during meal times on 7/26 or 7/27/17 between 11am-7pm.

Marching Pride of Lawrence Township Message: Band Camp 2017 Information

Band Camp Information
Sunday, July 23rd – Tuesday, August 1st 2017

Parking -Use the Caito Drive entrance at LC and park in the north lot nearest the Caroline V Hanna Auditorium entrance and enter the building through Door 11

This year will see some changes to the band camp schedule, starting with registration and rehearsal on Sunday all the way through the parent preview. While some things will change to suit the needs of the Band, one thing that will not change is the commitment to excellence embodied by the students, directors, staff and volunteers.

Registration/Check-in: Parents – your presense is required to check-in your student!

  • Sunday, July 23rd – 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Students and parents will be greeted at check-in tables in the LC Hall of Fame (door #11). Parents will receive their postcard checklist and proceed through the check-in process. Your checklist will be approved at each table.
  • Once you have completed the registration process, students will receive wristbands. Parents may depart and students proceed to band room for rehearsal.

Financial Contracts and Payments:

  • The third payment of $100 is due at check in. MPLT outstanding balances should not exceed $300, (or full adherance to your financial contract), in order to fulfill financial expectation to participate in band camp.
  • Payment plan arrangements should already have been made before band camp check in, however representatives from LN and LC will be available to set up plans at registration.
  • A spot in the show cannot be guaranteed for students who do not have financial arrangements in place or are delinquent on payments.
  • Please contact your Performing Arts office if you’d like to make payments or set up payment plans prior to registration, as long lines at the financial tables are possible during registration.

Required Forms:

Medical:

  • Parents of students requiring prescription medication will need to provide dosage, frequency and a supply of the medication needed each day from 6:45am – 9:30pm.
  • Students who have non-medication related requirements should also report to the Medical table.
  • The medical staff must be made aware of all situations each student faces in order to provide the highest level of care and support during camp.

Special Notes Regarding Freshman Orientation and Schedule/ID/Chromebook Pick-up

  • LN students: Freshman orientation is Wednesday, July 26th from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Please register for this session. Students will eat lunch at LC, ride a shuttle bus to take care of all business and then return to rehearsal at LC. All LN Upperclassmen will pick up schedules & take care of all school business on Thursday, July 27th from 1:00-4:00pm. A shuttle bus will be provided.
  • LC students: Freshman orientation is Wednesday, July 26th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm. Schedule pickup is July 26th and 27th. Upperclassmen LC students are encouraged to pick up schedules & take care of all school business during mealtimes.

Student Drivers/Cars:

  • Student are permitted to drive to band camp, but will not be permitted to leave campus until dismissal at approximately 9:30 PM each evening for any reason. Students who violate this policy will be held to MSDLT code of conduct for school sponsored events or field trip type activities.

Band Camp Meals:

  • Each full day students will receive meals, Sunday (Dinner), Monday thru Friday & Monday & Tuesday (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner), Saturday (Breakfast and Lunch). The menu for the entire week is available for download using the link below.
  • 2017 Band Camp Menu
  • Please talk to one of the kitchen staff regarding food allergies or specific requirements. Many options are always available.

What to Bring: Students will need to pack and bring a small bag daily. The following items are suggested.

  • Marching Shoes: All Veteran Marchers! If you have a pair of marching shoes at home, please bring them to the uniform room on the first day of camp!
  • Water Jug and Sunscreen
  • Equipment/Instruments: Music, instruments, sticks, mouthpiece, flags, rifles, sabres, etc. Everything you need to rehearse.
  • Clothing: Students need to be prepared for changes in daily weather conditions, cool mornings, rain, heat, etc.
  • Extra socks, sweats, yoga pants, sweatshirt, shorts, t-shirt or tank, athletic shoes (no sandals or flip flops) hat, bandana, hair ties, sunglasses, etc.

Theme Days: Each day students will participate (dress) in a theme chosen by the leadership council.

  • 7/23 – Neon
  • 7/24 – Mis-match
  • 7/25 – Tie-dye
  • 7/26 – Freshman show shirt
  • 7/27 – Hawaiian
  • 7/28 – Twin
  • 7/29 – Superhero
  • 7/31 – Section Spirit

Personal Health & Hygiene: Sunscreen, bug spray, lip balm, deodorant, body spray, extra socks, extra clothes, etc.

Personal Comfort: During lunch and dinner breaks students may take time to rest in designated areas. Pillow and blanket are acceptable. (no air mattresses please!)

What NOT to Bring: Large sums of cash or other valuables, jewelry, electronics, etc.

If your student forgets something you may stop by campus and drop it off at the Performing Arts located inside door #11 (Hall of Fame).

Band Camp at LC:

  • ATTENTION ALL MPLT FAMILIES: 2017 Band Camp begins on Sunday and WE NEED YOU! There are HUNDREDS of positions to choose from and there are many open spots, for meals, uniforms, and much, much more (there are a lot of donation needs too). Band Camp doesn’t happen without the army of parent volunteers working behind the scenes.
    • We are using SignUp.com to organize volunteers for the 2017 MPLT Band Camp. Click this link for the deloresclark with your questions.
  • Band Camp Registration Check-in: Sunday, July 23rd, at 2:00pm. Rehearsal follows from 3:00 – 9:00pm.
    • Check-in is held in the LC Hall of Fame (door #11). Parents will receive a checklist to be approved at each check-in station.
    • Save time at registration and MAKE PAYMENTS EARLY. See details below under Student Account Payments.
    • Watch for an All About Band Camp list serve message coming soon.
  • Parent Preview: On Saturday, July 29th, from 5-7pm, Jug’s Catering will provide dinner to celebrate Parent Preview Night. Please pre-order your meal, see the order form attached.
    • Orders received before July 25th will be $10 per meal, and will rise to $12 per person after the 25th.
    • Please include a ticket for your marching band student, as dinner is not provided on this day at band camp.

  • All MPLT members must sign up for Remind 101 to receive important updates and messages. It is highly recommended that parents also sign up.

  • All MPLT apparel orders will be placed online this year. There will be a second order placed during Band Camp.

Fundraising:

Volunteers:

  • More volunteers are always needed from both schools for all events and committees. How can you get involved?

Freshman Orientation and Schedule/ID/Chromebook Pick-up:

  • ALL Lawrence North Freshmen will complete Freshman Orientation on Wednesday, 7/26/17 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Please register for this session.
  • Students will eat lunch at LC, ride a shuttle bus to LN to take care of all business and then return to rehearsal at LC.
  • ALL Lawrence North Upperclassmen will pick up schedules on Thursday, 7/27/17 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
  • A shuttle will be provided; however, students may drive if they wish.
  • All Lawrence Central MPLT Members: Freshmen will be released to attend orientation on Wednesday, 7/26/17 from 4-6pm. Upperclassmen may pick up schedules during meal times on 7/26 or 7/27/17 between 11am-7pm.

July 4 Parade:

  • Drop off for the parade is at Lawrence Central.

    • Uniform and Reminders for the day:
      • Color Guard: 2017 MPLT Show Shirt and black shorts.
      • Winds and percussion: 2017 MPLT Show Shirt and khaki shorts.
      • Shirts must be tucked in!
      • The only head gear allowed will be sunglasses. No hats or bandannas.
      • Tennis shoes
      • SUNSCREEN!
    • Students can pick up their show shirt at LN this evening or LC tomorrow morning.
