Newsletter 8/7/18

Chaperones:

  • MPLT is performing at the LC vs. HSE Football game at Lucas Oil on August 17th, and we need chaperones!
  • Those interested in chaperoning this year needs to attend one of the following chaperone meetings:
    • Thursday, August 9th at 8pm (in the LC Senior Cafeteria – come in through door 11)
    • Saturday, August 11th at 10am (in the LC Senior Cafeteria – come in through door 11)
  • All chaperones must bring a completed background check form, and Chaperone Application with them to the chaperone meeting.

Lost-and-Found:

  • The LC band room’s Lost and Found will be emptied into LC’s primary lost and found on Friday, August 10th. There are a lot of unclaimed clothes, shoes and water bottles that were found after marching band. We will continue to remind students of this, but if you think you/your student may have left something at LC please advise them to look through it sometime this week.

After-School Dinners:

  • Our school district has a program that provides dinner for students participating in after school activities. Dinner consists of a protein, grain, veggie, and fruit option. Families must sign up for this program for their student to participate.
  • Students who wish to participate in this program need to reply with a “thumbs up” to the remind message sent out by Ms. Trapani, or contact Mrs. Felli in the LC Performing Arts office.
    • Note: It takes approximately 1 week for a student to be added to the dinner program after they have signed up. Please let us know if you’d like to participate as soon as possible!
  • LN Students will pick up their meals directly from the cafeteria immediately after the bell rings, before they get on the shuttle.
  • LC Students will see Mrs. Felli after school, inside of door 10 for this week only; starting August 13th, LC students will go to the cafeteria for your meals.

Shuttle Busses:

  • The after school shuttle bus for LN students will leave from LN door 11 at 4pm for all after school rehearsals; busses will no longer pick up students outside of door 16
    • Parents will always pick up from LC at the end of rehearsal – there is no return shuttle to LN.
  • If rehearsals are at LN, the shuttle bus for LC students will leave from LC door 11 at 4pm
    • There is no shuttle bus back to LC after rehearsal – Parents need to pick up students from LN
  • On Thursdays, students have the option of riding their regular bus home and meeting back at LC at 6:15PM in time for the 6:30PM rehearsal, or taking the shuttle directly to LC and waiting in a supervised room for the rehearsal. Meals are the student’s responsibility.

Color Run:

  • Join MPLT for their 2nd annual Color Run on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Lawrence Park. Save the date! This is a FUN run. Times don’t matter, but how much color you can accumulate does!
  • The registration link is live! This online registration is for the public only.
  • LN and LC Performing Arts students must submit a paper registration form to the LN or LC Performing Arts office in order to receive the discounted $12 registration fee. Click here to download the required form.
    • All MPLT students should have turned in their Color Run registration form and payment by NOW. If you have not yet turned in either of these items, please do so as soon as possible.
  • Join our Facebook Color Run event page.
  • Students are encouraged to continue collecting donations through August 18th, this is a great way to earn money towards their band fees!
  • Note: There will be a music-only rehearsal for all MPLT students from 12p – 3p, following the Color Run

Professional Automotive Fundraiser:

  • This year’s Professional Automotive fundraiser will begin next Monday, August 13th. Section leaders will distribute envelopes to students after rehearsal that evening.
  • All MPLT students are encouraged to participate in this year’s Professional Automotive Fundraiser; 100% of proceeds will go to the student’s account!

Apparel Orders:

  • All MPLT apparel orders will be placed online this year.
  • The deadline for the second order is Sunday, August 19th.

Pick Up/Drop Off Procedures:

  • Please keep our students safe! When picking up your students after rehearsals, please pull into a designated parking spot. Do not park in the traffic lanes or block traffic.
  • LN Color Guard members are encouraged to be dropped off at LC for the G1 guard class. There is a shuttle bus to LN after class. Alternately, they can ride the normal shuttle from LN to LC which leaves from LN door 4 at the start of the school day.

Fan Club:

  • Come join us at MPLT Fan Club nights, every Thursday throughout the season!
  • Families are encouraged to come and watch the band rehearse on Thursday evenings, in the LC stadium. This is a great way to meet other families and see firsthand just how hard our students work!

Volunteers:

More volunteers are always needed from both schools for all events and committees throughout the season. How can you get involved?

  • courtclardy or Sue Felli at suzannefelli with your questions and availability.
  • All adults over the age of 18 must submit a Volunteer Background Check Form to their home school’s Performing Arts office
  • MPLT Alumni are always encouraged to come back and help out during the season!
    • Alumni should download the background check form specific to the school they graduated from.

Student Account Payments:

  • All payments will be made to your home school’s booster organization:
    • For LC or Belzer students, make checks payable to Lawrence Central Performing Arts Association (LCPAA) or suzannefelli or (317) 964-7550
    • LN: Jen Jansen at jenniferjansen or (317) 964-7951

Remind 101:

  • All MPLT members are required to sign up for Remind 101 to receive important updates and messages. It is highly recommended that parents also sign up; this is the quickest way to receive timely updates!

Leadership Remind 101:

  • MPLT Directors have a remind account set up to communicate with our leadership team and have made an effort to give students ample time to arrange for rides.
  • Each time we send out a request for students to arrive early/stay late we will send out a remind message to allow them to plan for these events.
  • If parents would like to sign up for this so that they receive all leadership notifications as well, then please follow these directions:
    • Go to your text messages in your phone and dial 81010 in the contact section and text the following message @mplts

Band Camp Wrap Up:

  • THANK YOU to the Band Camp Committee, and to everyone who stepped up and volunteered at this year’s Band Camp!
  • A huge thank you as well to all those who volunteered extra shifts, stayed past their shift to cover an area in need, or jumped in whenever and wherever they saw the need for help. Many of these volunteers worked nearly every day of Band Camp, some putting in nearly as many hours as the kids!
  • There were a great deal of volunteer shifts that remained unfilled throughout Band Camp this year. A successful MPLT season requires all families to step up and help, and there are many different ways that you can help our program!

Dine to Donate:

  • Dine out at Panera Bread tomorrow, August 2, 2018, from 4pm – 8pm and help support MPLT!
    • MPLT will receive 20% of all sales when the attached flyer is presented (printed or electronic versions accepted)

After-School Dinners:

  • Our school district has a program that provides dinner for students participating in after school activities. Dinner consists of a protein, grain, veggie and fruit option. Families must sign up for this program for their student to participate. We are willing to organize this for any student who contacts Sue Felli by Tuesday, to order for the following week. Dinners will be available starting next week (August 7). We anticipate that many students will want to have an extra snack before starting marching band practice.
  • Students who wish to participate in this program need to reply with a “thumbs up” to the remind message sent out by Ms. Trapani earlier today.
  • Students will pick up their meals directly from their home school cafeteria immediately after the bell rings, before they get on the shuttle.

Marching Pride of Lawrence Township Band Camp Parent Preview Night This Saturday!

WHAT: Parent Preview Night! MPLT will show their parents and fans what they have been working on all week!

WHEN: Saturday, July 28th, from 5 PM to 7 PM: Dinner from 5 PM – 7 PM & the Preview Performance from 7 PM – 9 PM

WHERE: Lawrence Central (by Door 11) with the performance in the football stadium

WHAT TO BRING:

Bring cash if you wish to purchase show shirts, past and present
Bring dinner if you’d like to eat with the students in the cafeteria

MARCHERS:

Students will need to wear "Livin’ on Royal Street" show shirt & khaki shorts (band) or black shorts (guard) for the performance. Rehearsal ends by 4pm and you will have an opportunity change clothes before dinner.

PRE-ORDERED DINNERS:

Tickets for the pre-ordered fried chicken dinner from Jug’s Catering can be picked up at the table just inside door 11. Dinner will be served in the Commons.
If you have not pre-ordered, you can still turn in an order form: pick one up in the Performing Arts office or print a form here. (also attached) There may be an opportunity to buy additional meals the night of the event.
All students should order a meal or bring dinner from home.

Between 5pm and 7pm, relax and enjoy your meal in the school cafeteria, socialize, check out the information and fundraiser tables.

From 7pm to 9pm, the Marching Pride of Lawrence Township will show you what they have accomplished during band camp!

All parents, family, friends, and community members are welcome and encouraged to join us!

Band Camp Volunteers:

  • There are still plenty of opportunities available to volunteer at Band Camp. Please consider signing up; together we can make this a great Band Camp for our students!
    • All adults 18 years and older are welcomed to volunteer, so long as they have submitted a background check. This is a great way for MPLT Alumni to stay involved with the program!
  • We are using SignUp.com to organize volunteers for the 2018 MPLT Band Camp. Contact Judy Everly at judy with questions.

Parent Preview Night:

  • Parent Preview Night will take place this Saturday, July 28th, from 5pm – 7pm at LC.
  • Today is the last day to purchase your meal tickets at the $10 discounted rate! All Presale Dinner Reservation forms and payments must be turned into the LC Performing Arts office by the end if rehearsal on July 24
    • If you wish to still purchase meal tickets after July 24th, the cost will increase to $12 per person
  • Dinner Menu: Fried Chicken, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Coleslaw, Biscuits w/Apple Butter, Lemonade/Iced Tea

LC Freshman Orientation and Schedule/ID/Chromebook Pick-up:

  • All Lawrence Central Freshman will be released to attend orientation on Thursday, 7/26/18 from 1pm – 3pm. Please register for this session.
  • ALL Lawrence Central Upperclassmen will pick up schedules on Friday, 7/27/18 from 12pm -2pm.

Marching Pride of Lawrence Township Critical Need for Band Camp Volunteers Tomorrow!

Families, friends, and fans of the Marching Pride:

We need your help! We are extremely understaffed for Band Camp tomorrow, in many of the areas crucial to the successful operation of a day at Band Camp for our marchers and staff members.

If you are able to help in any way, please go to http://signup.com/go/QJsNzrR and register.

Our highest areas of need are:

  • Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Service
  • Medical Staff and First Aid workers

There are many other areas in addition to these that could use additional help! If there is any point where you can help tomorrow, please sign up. Our marchers and staff are always grateful for any help our adult volunteers can give!

You do not have to be a parent to volunteer; alumni, adult family members, and fans of our program are always welcomed and appreciated!

If you are unable to help tomorrow, please consider volunteering any other day throughout Band Camp. There are many other days and shifts where your time is greatly needed.

Our student marchers, staff, and directors thank you!

Just two more days until the start of band camp!

  • All families who have qualified for the "Fast Pass" through registration have now been notified.
  • Students: Remember to wear comfortable shoes, and bring water and sunscreen!
  • Parents: Remind your students to wear comfortable shoes, and bring water and sunscreen!
  • Registration Check-In Process:
    • Registration will be staggered for Band Camp this year; enter through Door #11 (LC Hall of Fame) and check-in when you arrive. Please adhere to the following schedule to help facilitate a smooth registration for all families:
      • 1:00pm – Seniors
      • 1:30pm – Juniors

    • Complete the attached Parent Preview Night Jug’s Dinner order form and turn in with payment at Registration
  • Please make a note that starting Monday, July 30th, students and parent volunteers must enter through door #12. Door #11 will not be accessible.

Marching Pride of Lawrence Township Important Information for Sunday!

MPLT will be implementing a new technological resource this season, “Ultimate Drill Book” application (software for smart devices ie. phones and tablets), to facilitate the learning process. This software is free for our MPLT members and is a secure application created for educational purposes. If your student has a smart device, we highly encourage them to bring it to registration on Sunday, as a representative of this company will be taking them through a tutorial of how to download and use this software in a rehearsal setting.

MPLT Band Camp 2018 begins in 5 days at LC!

Band Camp Volunteers:

  • URGENT NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS: We are less than a week away from the start of Band Camp, and there are still countless openings for both volunteers and donations. Please consider signing up to volunteer or to donate; together we can make this a great Band Camp for our students!
    • All adults 18 years and older are welcomed to volunteer, so long as they have submitted a background check. This is a great way for MPLT Alumni to stay involved with the program!
  • We are using SignUp.com to organize volunteers for the 2018 MPLT Band Camp. Contact Judy Everly at judy with questions.

    • 1:00pm – Seniors
    • 1:30pm – Juniors
    • 2:00pm – Sophomores
    • 2:30pm – Freshman

Student Account Payments:

  • All payments will be made to your home school’s booster organization:
    • For LC or Belzer students, make checks payable to Lawrence Central Performing Arts Association (LCPAA) or suzannefelli or (317) 964-7550

Volunteers:

  • More volunteers are always needed from both schools for all events and committees throughout the season. How can you get involved?

  • All adults over the age of 18 must submit a Volunteer Background Check Form to their home school’s Performing Arts office
  • MPLT Alumni are always encouraged to come back and help out during the season!
    • Alumni should download the background check form specific to the school they graduated from.

  • Dine out at Panera Bread on August 2, 2018 from 4pm – 8pm and help support MPLT!

Color Run:

  • Join MPLT for their 2nd annual Color Run on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Lawrence Park. Save the date! This is a FUN run. Times don’t matter, but how much color you can accumulate does!
    • The registration link is now live! This online registration is for the public only.
      • LN and LC Performing Arts students must submit a paper registration form to the LN or LC Performing Arts office in order to receive the discounted $12 registration fee. Click here to download the required form.

Freshman Orientation and Schedule/ID/Chromebook Pick-up:

  • ALL Lawrence North Freshmen will complete Freshman Orientation on Tuesday, 7/24/18 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Please register for this session.
  • All LN Freshman MPLT members will eat lunch at LC prior to departing for Orientation at 12:30pm. Transportation to and from Orientation will be provided.
  • ALL Lawrence North Upperclassmen will be released to pick up their schedules on Wednesday, 7/25/18 at 1pm.
  • A shuttle to LN will depart from LC at 1pm; student drivers are not required to take the shuttle.
  • All Lawrence Central Freshman will be released to attend orientation on Thursday, 7/26/18 from 1pm – 3pm. Please register for this session.
  • ALL Lawrence Central Upperclassmen will pick up schedules on Friday, 7/27/18 from 12pm -2pm.

July 4 Parade:

  • Students must be at LC by 8:45am tomorrow morning
    • Click here for the Parade Itinerary
    • Eat breakfast and drink lots of water before arriving!
    • Uniform and Reminders for the day:
      • Color Guard: 2018 MPLT Show Shirt and black shorts.
      • Winds and Percussion: 2018 MPLT Show Shirt and khaki shorts.
      • Shirts must be tucked in!
      • The only head gear allowed will be sunglasses. No hats or bandannas.
      • Tennis shoes
      • SUNSCREEN!
    • All students who participated in Tag Day should have a 2018 Show Shirt.
      • Students who have not yet received their 2018 Show Shirt will need to pick it up from the LC Performing Arts office tomorrow morning.
